The journey home for NASA astronauts Sunita Williams, Butch Wilmore, Nick Hague, and Ros cosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov begins today, Tuesday, March 18, 2025, aboard the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft. The critical hatch closure is set for 8:45 a.m. IST, when the crew will board the Dragon and seal the hatch connecting them to the International Space Station (ISS), signaling the start of their departure preparations.
Meet the Crew-9 Astronauts Returning Alongside Sunita Williams
Joining Sunita Williams Crew-9 Return trip are three skilled astronauts who’ve wrapped up their assignments on the ISS. Nick Hague, a seasoned NASA astronaut, has a history of spaceflights and has been instrumental in spacewalks and station upkeep. Butch Wilmore, another NASA expert, was initially slated to return via Boeing’s Starliner but shifted to Crew-9 due to scheduling changes. Representing Russia’s Roscosmos, Aleksandr Gorbunov has been key in advancing scientific studies and ISS operations. Over the past few months, this quartet has immersed themselves in microgravity experiments, tested cutting-edge space tech, and ensured the ISS remains ready for upcoming missions.

SpaceX Dragon Departs ISS, Embarks on Earthward Journey
The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, carrying Sunita Williams Crew-9 Return, Nick Hague, Butch Wilmore, and Aleksandr Gorbunov, has smoothly undocked from the ISS, kicking off its 17-hour trek back to Earth. The autonomous separation took place at 10:35 a.m. IST on March 18, as the Dragon detached from the Harmony module’s forward port and began drifting away with precise thruster maneuvers. Next, the spacecraft will tweak its path, run essential system diagnostics, and gear up for the deorbit burn slated for early Wednesday. Upon re-entering Earth’s atmosphere, the capsule will face extreme temperatures before parachutes deploy, ensuring a gentle splashdown in the Atlantic Ocean at 3:27 a.m. IST on March 19. This event underscores NASA’s Commercial Crew Program’s success in bringing astronauts home safely with reusable spacecraft. Keep checking Moneycontrol.com for live mission updates.
Sunita Williams Crew-9 Return 17-Hour Voyage from Space to Earth
The trip from the ISS to Earth isn’t a quick hop—it’s a meticulously planned 17-hour descent packed with technical precision and safety measures. Unlike typical air travel, this journey includes stages like undocking, a controlled drop, atmospheric re-entry, parachute release, and an ocean splashdown. The SpaceX Dragon will handle these phases on its own, delivering a seamless return for the astronauts after months in zero gravity. For Sunita Williams, Nick Hague, Butch Wilmore, and Aleksandr Gorbunov, this marks the end of a challenging yet fulfilling stint on the ISS.

Why Sunita Williams Crew-9 Return Stands Out
Sunita Williams Crew-9 Return’ homecoming with NASA’s SpaceX Crew-9 mission adds another chapter to her stellar career. As one of the most accomplished astronauts of Indian descent, she’s logged over 321 days in space across various missions. This return is noteworthy because it deviated from the original script—Williams was meant to travel back on Boeing’s Starliner, but technical glitches prompted NASA to send it back empty in August 2024. This curveball extended her stay, landing her a spot on Crew-9 and cementing this journey as a historic one.
NASA Kicks Off Live Crew-9 Undocking Broadcast
NASA is now streaming the Crew-9 undocking live on NASA+ and YouTube. Watch as the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft detaches from the ISS and starts its voyage back to Earth in real time.

Crew-9 Splashdown Timeline: Sunita Williams’ Return Live
Post-undocking, the Dragon spacecraft will slice through Earth’s atmosphere, aiming for a safe splashdown off Florida’s coast. NASA’s live coverage of the deorbit burn, re-entry, and landing will start at 2:15 a.m. IST on Wednesday, March 20, with the splashdown expected at approximately 3:27 a.m. IST. Recovery crews will be on standby to welcome the astronauts back.
Once it hits the water, SpaceX’s recovery team will scoop up the Dragon spacecraft, along with the crew and their scientific haul. The capsule will then be spruced up for its next adventure.
Why SpaceX Dragon Over Boeing Starliner for Sunita Williams?
Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore launched on Boeing’s Starliner, but NASA opted to bring it back uncrewed in August 2024 due to technical hiccups. Consequently, both were reassigned to Crew-9 for their Earth return.

Holi is a vibrant Hindu festival celebrated primarily in India and Nepal, known as the “Festival of Colors.” It typically occurs in March, marking the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil. The festival spans two days: Holika Dahan, where bonfires are lit to symbolize the burning of the demoness Holika, and Rangwali Holi, where people throw colored powders and water at each other, dance, sing, and feast. It’s a time of joy, forgiveness, and community bonding, inspired by legends like the story of Krishna and Radha. In 2025, Holi will fall around March 14-15, depending on the lunar calendar.

Its rich history dates back to its founding on July 25, 1906, when it was initially established as the Bengal Technical Institute, a modest institution aimed at advancing technical education in the region. Over the decades, it underwent a significant transformation, culminating in its official conversion into Jadavpur University on December 24, 1955. This evolution reflects its growing stature and its pivotal role in shaping higher education in India.
Recent Controversy
On March 10, 2025, Jadavpur University found itself thrust into the national spotlight due to a highly charged controversy. Provocative graffiti, boldly displaying slogans such as “Azad Kashmir” and “Free Palestine,” was discovered splashed across the university’s walls. This incident ignited a firestorm of reactions, sparking heated debates, impassioned protests, and widespread discussions among students, faculty, and the broader public. The event not only highlighted the university’s longstanding tradition of political activism but also drew intense media scrutiny, with news outlets across India covering the unfolding drama. The controversy underscored the institution’s complex role as both an academic powerhouse and a hotbed of socio-political expression.

Jadavpur University’s academic excellence has been consistently recognized on a national level, as evidenced by its impressive performance in the 2024 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). This authoritative ranking system placed the university in several commendable positions:
It secured the 9th rank among all universities in India, affirming its leadership in higher education.

Known for her elegant right-handed batting and occasional right-arm off-break bowling, she has made significant strides in domestic and international cricket at a young age. She currently plays for the Queensland Fire in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) and the Sydney Thunder in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). Her journey reflects a blend of natural talent, versatility, and a strong work ethic.
Georgia Voll Early Life and Career Beginnings
Voll grew up in Queensland, where her sporting prowess extended beyond cricket. Before focusing on cricket, she played rugby league, representing Queensland’s under-18 team as a halfback or five-eighth. Her cricket career took off when she signed with the Brisbane Heat in the WBBL at just 16 years old, marking her as one of the youngest players in the competition at the time. She made her debut for Queensland in the WNCL on February 6, 2020, against Victoria, stepping into senior cricket with confidence.
Georgia Voll
Domestic Cricket Career
Brisbane Heat (WBBL)
Voll’s initial stint with the Brisbane Heat saw her batting in the middle order. While she showed promise, her opportunities to open were limited due to the team’s established lineup. She played for the Heat from WBBL|05 to WBBL|08, gaining valuable experience in a competitive environment.
Georgia Voll
Queensland Fire (WNCL)
With Queensland, Voll has been a standout performer. She’s scored multiple centuries, including two in the 2023-24 WNCL season, showcasing her ability to anchor innings and accelerate when needed. Her contributions helped Queensland reach the WNCL final in that season, though they fell short of the title. Her consistency has made her a key player in the state side.
Sydney Thunder (WBBL)
In 2023, Voll switched to the Sydney Thunder, a move that transformed her career. Given the chance to open the batting, she thrived in the role, displaying her full range of strokes and adaptability. This shift elevated her profile in the WBBL, with commentators and fans alike noting her classy, composed style.
Georgia Voll
International Career
Voll’s domestic success earned her a call-up to the Australian national team. She made her One Day International (ODI) debut on December 5, 2024, against India in Brisbane. Her inclusion in the squad reflects her potential as a future mainstay in Australia’s batting lineup, especially as the team looks to refresh its roster following the retirement of senior players.
Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025
In a significant career move, Voll joined the UP Warriorz for the WPL 2025 season as a replacement for Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu, who withdrew due to international commitments. Signed at a base price of INR 10 lakh, Voll brings her flair and versatility to the Indian franchise league, marking her first major overseas T20 stint.

Her athletic background in rugby league contributes to her agility and fielding prowess.

3 Main Reasons Behind the Stock Market Rally
1. GDP Growth in Line with Expectations
India’s GDP grew by 6.2% in the December quarter, up from 5.6% in the September quarter.
HSBC reported that previous GDP figures were revised upward, indicating strong economic growth.
2. Strong Performance in the Automobile Sector
February auto sales data exceeded expectations.
Companies like Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) and Eicher Motors performed well, boosting investor confidence.
3. Decline in Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) Selling
High stock valuations and attractive US bond yields led to recent FII selling in the Indian market.
However, the US 10-year bond yield has now fallen to 4.21%, which may reduce FII selling.
