Housefull 5 Box Office Collection : The fifth installment of the iconic Housefull franchise, Housefull 5, hit theaters on June 6, 2025, with a bang, delivering the biggest opening day in the series’ history. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, this comedy-thriller boasts a star-studded cast led by Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Sonam Bajwa, and more. Set on a luxury cruise with a whodunit murder mystery and a unique dual-ending format (Housefull 5A and 5B), the film has sparked significant buzz despite mixed reviews. Here’s a detailed look at its box office performance after two days.
Housefull 5 Box Office Collection
Day 1: A Record-Breaking Opening
Housefull 5 kicked off with a robust India net collection of ₹24 crore on its opening day, surpassing Housefull 4’s ₹19.08 crore and marking Akshay Kumar’s fourth-biggest opener, trailing Mission Mangal (₹29.16 crore), Sooryavanshi (₹26.29 crore), and Gold (₹25.25 crore). The film’s worldwide gross reached ₹39.75 crore, including ₹11 crore from overseas markets, making it one of Akshay’s strongest international openings. Advance bookings were impressive, with ₹9.59 crore (including block seats), driven by 2.5 lakh tickets sold across 17,366 shows.
- Occupancy:
- Housefull 5A: 20.93% (Hindi, 4074 screens)
- Housefull 5B: 10.76% (Hindi, 2944 screens)
- Overall Hindi Occupancy: 28.88%, peaking at 45.65% for night shows.
- Regional Highlights: Strong performances in Delhi, UP, Bihar, with Chennai reporting 52% occupancy.
The dual-ending strategy, while innovative, caused some audience confusion, with Housefull 5A outperforming 5B due to higher screen allocation and better reception.
Day 2: A Significant Jump
On its first Saturday (June 7, 2025), Housefull 5 saw a 25-29% jump, collecting an estimated ₹30-31 crore net in India, pushing the two-day India net total to ₹54-55 crore. The worldwide gross for two days reached ₹87 crore, with ₹22 crore from overseas markets. The occupancy surged to 33.18% (Hindi), with Housefull 5A at 37.97% (peaking at 52.32% for night shows) and 5B at 21.97%. The jump indicates positive audience word-of-mouth, particularly in mass centers like Gujarat and Rajasthan, despite competition from Thug Life and Bhool Chuk Maaf.
Budget and Verdict Outlook
With a reported budget of ₹225-350 crore, Housefull 5 faces high stakes. Analysts suggest it needs ₹500 crore worldwide to be deemed a hit. The strong opening weekend (projected at ₹85-90 crore net in India) and franchise goodwill provide a solid foundation, but weekday performance will be crucial. The film’s 7000 screens worldwide (5000 in India, 2000 overseas) and Akshay Kumar’s star power give it an edge, though mixed reviews highlight reliance on slapstick humor over fresh scripting.

Takeaways
- Strengths: The franchise’s brand, Akshay Kumar’s return to comedy, and strong overseas performance (USA: $210K, Canada: $155K, Gulf: $650K) are driving collections. The dual-ending gimmick has sparked curiosity, boosting advance bookings.
- Challenges: Mixed reviews criticize repetitive humor and a weak screenplay, and the high budget raises the bar for profitability. The dual-ending format has confused some viewers, with 5A clearly favored.
- Outlook: With a strong weekend expected, Housefull 5 could cross ₹300 crore net in India, pushing the franchise’s total past ₹800 crore. Sustained weekday collections are critical to avoid Akshay Kumar’s recent streak of underperformers.
