    (i) National Water Mission has been launched with the objective of conservation of water, minimizing wastage and ensuring its more equitable distribution both across and within States through integrated water resources development and management.

Under this mission, a campaign namely “Sahi Fasal” has also been initiated to nudge farmers to favour agricultural crops which consume less water and to use water more efficiently in agriculture, as a part of demand side management.

Also, to promote dialogue and information sharing among participants on variety of water related topics, a monthly seminar series – “Water Talk” has been initiated with intended to create awareness, build capacities of stakeholders and to encourage people to become active participants in the conservation and saving of water.

(ii) Atal Bhujal Yojana, a Central Sector Scheme, with focus on community participation, demand side interventions and convergence of ongoing schemes for sustainable ground water management is being implemented from 1 April 2020 in seven States – Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

At the time of announcement of Jal Jeevan Mission in August 2019, 3.23 Crore (17%) rural households were reported to have tap water connections. So far, as reported by States/UTs as on 06.02.2023, around 7.87 Crore rural households have been provided with tap water connections in last three and half years under JJM. Thus, as on 06.02.2023, out of 19.36 Crore rural households in the country, around 11.10 Crore (57%) households are reported to have tap water supply in their homes.

(vi) Jal Shakti Abhiyan-I (JSA-I) was launched in 2019 in 256 water stressed districts to promote water conservation and water resource management by focusing on accelerated implementation of five target interventions, viz., water conservation and rainwater harvesting, renovation of traditional and other water bodies/ tanks, reuse and recharge of bore wells, watershed development and intensive afforestation.

  • Union Budget 2022-23: Food of 11 crore childrens of the country is being snatched away gradually, Says, Rajendrasinh B Chudasama

New Delhi: Food and nutrition were highlighted in this year’s budget presented in the parliament by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. However, children might not get the benefit of good food.  Schemes for children such as Poshan 2.0, which provide integrated benefits to women and children, did not get any additional funds this year.

In 2022-23, an estimated budget of Rs 10,234 crore has been sanctioned to the Pradhan Matri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM POSHAN) programme. This scheme was earlier known as the ‘National Program of Midday Meal in Schools’ and provided hot cooked meals to school children between the ages of 6 and 14 years. Last year, the revised estimate was Rs 10,234 crore.

In case of Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 schemes (umbrella Integrated Child Development Schemes which provide supplementary nutrition to children below six years), Rs 20,263 crore was made available. Last year’s revised estimate was Rs 20,000 crore. Both represent 0.5 per cent of the total budget.

In the Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandana Yojana, similarly, there has been only a marginal increase in the budget allocation. This scheme ensures good food to pregnant and lactating women.

The allocation for the scheme has gone up to Rs 2,622.11 crore in this budget, compared to the revised estimate of Rs 1,862 crore in 2021-22. Last year, this was 0.05 per cent of the total budget while it is 0.07 per cent of the total budget this year.

Rajendrasinh B Chudasama, President-PM Nutrition Mid day Meal Scheme Employees Union Gujarat Pradesh said the budget does not show any interest in children and their nutrition. What is shocking is that the provision of Rs 25,000 crore in this budget is 1.31 lakh crore of the PM nutrition scheme which has been announced for five years.  There was a provision of Rs. 12000 crore in 2022, there was a provision of Rs. 11000 crore, now there is a provision of Rs. 10000 crore in 2022-23.  Among the big issues, the food of 11 crore children of the country is being snatched away like slow poison.

During the pandemic, the government provided additional ration to the families but the budget does not indicate any cognisance of the importance of ensuring nutrition.

Last year’s budget also had given a short shrift to nutrition for children. The budget estimate on nutrition had gone down to Rs 2,700 crore in 2021-22 from Rs 3,700 crore in 2020-21.

This lacuna is despite the fact that the budget this year has components that promote good food. For example, the government plans to promote millets. The world will be celebrating the International Year of Millets in 2023. The government will support post-harvest value addition to improve consumption domestically and also brand them internationally.

‘Drishyam’ style murder: Man killed by brother and buried in backyard in Kerala

In a murder case similar to that depicted in the movie ‘Drishyam’, a man was killed by his younger brother, and the body buried in the backyard of their home in the Kollam district of Kerala.

The incident happened in 2018. The murder has come to light only now after a relative raised suspicion about the disappearance of the man, identified as Shaji Peter, and informed the police.

During Onam in 2018, Shaji Peter returned to his ancestral home to be with his family during the festive period. He had been away from home for a long time. Shaji allegedly misbehaved with his younger brother Sajin’s wife Arya, which is believed to be the trigger behind the murder.

In the fight that ensued, Sajin beat his brother to death. With the help of his mother and wife, he secretly buried the body in the backyard of their home in Eroor in the Kollam district.

The family did not disclose the matter to anyone. They said that Shaji was working in the Malappuram district to those who asked about him.

They kept this secret for two and a half years. The Kerala police have now uncovered the truth after their investigation. The dead body was found on Wednesday. The top of the body was sheeted and concreted to prevent odour. The police and forensic experts also recovered a sack and bone fragments.

  • Ok Computer: A Disney+Hotstar Series featuring Radhika Apte,Vijay Varma and Jackie Shroff.

Ok Computer: A Disney+Hotstar Series featuring Radhika Apte,Vijay Varma and Jackie Shroff.

New Delhi, Disney+Hotstar unveil the trailer of Sci-Fi Comedy Series OK Computer- Starring Radhika Apte, Vijay Varma, Jackie Shroff. This two-and-a-half minute trailer for OK Computer, is created and written by Anand Gandhi, the one who directed Ship of Theseus and Tumbbad. Ok Computer is a series set in the Year 2031 and follows cyber cell agent Hari Kundu (Vijay Varma) who in attempts of solving a pedestrian’s death by a self-driving car, ends up revealing things and information which was not to be discovered. Further adding to story, a robot name Ajeeb ends up in the crosshairs, raising questions above AI three Laws of Robotics, which is whether AI has turned on its creator, and if robots deserve the same treatment as humans.

Let’s talk more about this trailer:The trailer shows an accident scene, where Hari Kundu (Vijay Varma) says that it is not an accident but is a murder that is done by a robot. In this trailer we can witness robots, flying cars and AI product which is called as Ajeeb. Ajeeb is claimed to be best invention and a prime suspect behind the murder as we noticed a similar idea in Hollywood flick such as I-Robot starring Will Smith and Bridget Moynahan. On one hand the story reminds of similar theme, but the whole persona of the series is around humor, which give this series a little edge. There are some minute details that makes it more funny such as naming technology like robot named Ajeeb, self driven car named NHKL which is pronounced as Nikhil.

OK Computer release date is March 26 on Disney+Hotstar. Radhika Apte plays robots rights activist and Vijay Varma plays the role of investigating officer. In addition to Varma’s character Hari Kundu, OK Computer characters include Laksmi ( Radhika Apte) a private organisation leader called as PETER for the ethical treatment of robots, Pushpak Shakur (Jackie Shroff) is a maniac who claims to be the “real murderer” in OK Computer trailer, and we also get a glimpse of Rasika Dugal (Mirzapur fame) as someone who seems to have lost her marbels.

OK Computer is a production of Memesys Culture Lab for Disney+Hotstar and will be releasing with six-episode. Memesys Culture Lab is a joint venture of Ananda Gandhi (Director of Ship of Theseus and Tumbbad), Vinay Shukla( a filmmaker, producer and actor.)

In a prepared statement Gandhi said,”OK Computer is an attempt to imagine a world of our near-future together, and laugh out loud while we are at it. The show asks one of the biggest questions of this century, if AI commits a crime who should be culpable? It asks this question with madcap humour, zany character and a rollercoaster epic story. It’s been my privilege to offer unprecedented stories to Indian audiences. OK Computer, like my previous work, is a small step in a completely new direction. I hope it opens up floodgates for science fiction entertainment in India.

In just a few hours of the trailer’s release, it has so far received 209,218 views, and 16K Likes at the time of writing this story. The trailer received huge love from the audience and some of them commented too. One of the user wrote: “From the maker of Tumbbad ,expectations are high”.

One user wrote: This looks promising, looking forward to see it.

Another user wrote: irritating and interesting at same time.

The trailer is filled with all the suspense and drama, but the show stealer of the trailer is Jackie Shroff who wins us over with his ‘Maushi’ dialogue. This six episode series will be released on March 26th 2021 on OTT platform Disney+Hotstar and Disney+Hotstar Premium. It will be available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi and Kannada.
