Too Tall, Too Small Face – The Real Story Behind Amitabh Bachchan’s Iconic Hairstyle

Amitabh Bachchan’s hair is as legendary as his baritone voice and towering screen presence. The thick, wavy mane with a centre-parting and long sideburns defined the superstar of the 70s, but this signature look was never meant to be a fashion statement. It was born out of struggle and rejection.

    The Struggle Behind The Style

On the latest season of Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, the megastar revealed a lesser-known chapter of his life. Despite being the son of renowned poet Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan, and brother of businessman Ajitabh Bachchan, his initial days in Mumbai were full of hardships. He roamed the streets, went from one studio to another, spent days and nights on footpaths and railway stations, often without food and water. Producers would bluntly reject him saying – “You are too tall, your face is too small, no heroine will work with you.” To counter that criticism, he found a simple trick. He started growing his hair towards his temples to make his face look fuller and more balanced on screen. What was a practical fix for a technical objection, later became a national trend.

The Birth of the ‘Bachchan Cut’

Bachchan made his debut with  Saat Hindustani (1969) but stardom came only after Zanjeer (1973). It was around this time that his new hairstyle took shape and became synonymous with his ‘Angry Young Man’ era. The look – thick hair, slight centre-parting, and long sideburns extending till the ears – came to be known as the ‘Bachchan Cut’. It dominated men’s fashion in India for more than a decade and was seen in his biggest blockbusters like Deewaar, Sholay, Don and  Amar Akbar Anthony.

*The Man Behind The Hair* The architect of this iconic style was celebrated hairstylist Hakim Kairanvi. His son, celebrity stylist Aalim Hakim, once shared in an interview that his father started working with Bachchan right after Saat Hindustani. Kairanvi styled Big B for almost all his cult films including Zanjeer, Sholay, Don, Deewaar, and his last haircut for the actor was reportedly for Mard (1985).

From Long Locks To The French Beard

As his on-screen persona evolved, so did his hairstyle. The long-haired rebellious hero of the 70s transformed into the mature, authoritative host of Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2000, with shorter, neat hair and a distinguished French-cut beard. From a style adopted to hide criticism to a style that defined an entire decade of Hindi cinema, Amitabh Bachchan’s hair journey is truly a story of turning a flaw into an icon.

In the world of Indian stand-up comedy, crowd work segments often create viral moments. One such incident from a Pranit More show has sparked massive online debate. The clip, widely referred to as the “Rs 370 Biryani” controversy, led to a young Gurugram web developer losing his job.

What Happened at the Pranit More Show?

During a recent Pranit More show, comedian Pranit More interacted with the audience in a crowd-work segment. Himanshu Jangra, a 23-year-old web developer from Gurugram, came on stage and shared a personal dating story.

He mentioned spending around ₹370 on chicken biryani for a woman on a date. When she asked him to drop her home, he joked about needing to “vasool” (recover) his money — implying he expected physical intimacy in return for the expense. The audience laughed during the performance, and Pranit More even rewarded him with prize money, calling it “Peak Gurgaon content.”

A short clip of the exchange soon went viral on social media, triggering widespread criticism for promoting entitlement and undermining consent.

    The Backlash and Professional Consequences

The video drew intense outrage online. Many viewers called the remarks misogynistic and reflective of a transactional approach to dating. Himanshu Jangra later issued a public apology and deactivated his social media accounts.

His employer, Starvik Design, a Gurugram-based social media and branding firm, terminated his employment. The company stated that the viral clip had damaged its reputation and led to a flood of complaints and messages that disrupted work.

    Pranit More’s Response

Pranit More also faced backlash for laughing along and initially amplifying the moment. He later issued an apology, acknowledging it as poor judgment and removing the content from his platforms.

Broader Impact of the Pranit More Show Incident

This episode from the Pranit More show has triggered larger discussions around:

    • Consent and modern dating culture in urban India
    • Boundaries in stand-up comedy and crowd work
    • The consequences of viral videos on personal and professional lives
    • The debate between cancel culture and personal accountability

Rajpal Yadav Urges Fans Not to Criticise Saurabh Dwivedi and Zakir Khan Over Award Show Dig: “They Are Like Brothers to Me”

In a graceful and mature response, Rajpal Yadav urges fans not to criticise comedian-journalist Saurabh Dwivedi and stand-up artist Zakir Khan following the backlash from a light-hearted moment at the Chetak Screen Awards 2026 in Mumbai.

The incident, which quickly went viral, occurred when hosts Saurabh Dwivedi and Zakir Khan made a playful dig at Rajpal Yadav referencing his recent financial troubles and cheque-bounce case involving around ₹9 crore. The joke, delivered during a segment on currency fluctuations and economic issues, left many in the audience silent and sparked widespread criticism online.

    Rajpal Yadav’s Heartfelt Appeal

Instead of staying silent or letting the negativity grow, Rajpal Yadav urges fans not to criticise the two hosts. In a video message shared on social media, the veteran actor clarified that the entire exchange was part of a pre-planned scripted skit and should not be taken out of context.

“Saurabh and Zakir are like my younger brothers,” said Rajpal Yadav. “They have always given me respect. They are very close to my heart. As artistes, we are all connected.”

He further appealed directly to his fans:

“Please do not criticise Saurabh. Please do not hurt Saurabh’s feelings. Hurting Saurabh’s feelings means hurting my feelings. I love Saurabh, I love Zakir.”

Rajpal Yadav also thanked Saurabh Dwivedi for making the entire auditorium stand up and applaud his contribution to cinema that night, highlighting the mutual respect between them.

    What Sparked the Controversy?

During the Chetak Screen Awards 2026, while discussing “dollar upar ho ya neeche”, Saurabh Dwivedi jokingly reminded Rajpal Yadav about repaying his debts. The moment, though intended as banter, was perceived by many as insensitive, especially given Rajpal’s ongoing legal issues related to the cheque-bounce case. Netizens heavily trolled both hosts, leading to calls for an apology.

Saurabh Dwivedi later issued a public apology, admitting he should have been more careful with his words and expressing deep respect for Rajpal Yadav as a legendary artist.

Salman Khan’s Support for Rajpal Yadav

Rajpal Yadav Urges Fans Not to Criticise : Bollywood superstar Salman Khan also extended strong support to Rajpal Yadav, emphasizing the actor’s 30+ years of hard work in the industry and stating that financial ups and downs should not define an artist’s value.

By calling the moment “cinema” and defending his “younger brothers”, Rajpal has turned a potential controversy into an example of brotherhood and understanding in the entertainment industry.

  • From Character Actor to Meme God : How Rakesh Bedi’s “Bachcha Hai Tu Mera” Conquered the Internet in 2026

From Character Actor to Meme God : How Rakesh Bedi’s “Bachcha Hai Tu Mera” Conquered the Internet in 2026

In an industry obsessed with young heroes and six-pack abs, a 71-year-old veteran just reminded everyone why experience still beats everything. Rakesh Bedi, the man who has quietly enriched Hindi cinema for nearly five decades, didn’t just act in Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge — he dropped a cultural nuke with one simple, heartfelt line: “Bachcha hai tu mera.”

What started as an emotional moment in Aditya Dhar’s high-octane spy thriller has exploded into the biggest meme phenomenon of 2026. From Delhi Police road safety campaigns to brands selling everything from cosmetics to cold drinks, everyone wants a piece of Jameel Jamali’s paternal swag.

    The Man Behind the Meme

Rakesh Bedi has always been that reliable supporting actor whose face you recognize instantly but whose name you might struggle to recall. From Chashme Buddoor in the 80s to countless TV shows and films, he brought warmth, mischief, and perfect comic timing to roles that often felt like glue holding the story together.

Then came Dhurandhar. Playing Jameel Jamali — a sly Pakistani politician with layers that unfold beautifully — Bedi delivered something rare: a performance that is funny on the surface, deeply moving underneath, and twisty enough to make audiences gasp. The line “Bachcha hai tu mera” lands with such genuine affection and dramatic flair that it refuses to leave your head.

Suddenly, the internet saw not just an actor, but a universal “cool uncle” or protective father figure we all know.

    Why This Line Hit Different

“Bachcha hai tu mera” isn’t just dialogue. It’s loaded with care, possessiveness, wisdom, and a hint of mischief. In the film, it carries plot weight tied to loyalty, family, and hidden identities. Outside the theatre, it became the perfect template for relatable life advice, gentle roasts, and wholesome chaos.

Fans started using it for everything:

    • “Bachcha hai tu mera… abhi se phone band kar aur padhai kar.”
    • “Bachcha hai tu mera… ye le helmet pehan.” (Thank you, Delhi Police!)

The Delhi Police turned it into a brilliant road safety PSA with a caricature of Jameel Jamali offering a helmet. Brands quickly jumped in — Renée Cosmetics, Fanta-inspired edits, fitness pages, even organ donation awareness campaigns repurposed the line with heart. One ad even featured Bedi himself in avatar form saying “Tu baccha hai mera… ye le skincare lagaa.”

A video of Bedi warmly interacting with Kiara Advani and Ananya Panday at an awards event sent the meme machine into overdrive. Comments flooded with: “Jameel Mamu in real life spotted!”

The Viral Pic & Meme Formats That Took Over

The most shared “viral pic” format usually features side-by-side comparisons or creative edits:

    • Rakesh Bedi as Jameel Jamali with his signature sly smile next to Ranveer Singh’s character.
    • Jameel Jamali morphed into Shakuni Mama from Mahabharata — “Mere bachche… mere bachche karke pura khel khatam kar diya!”
    • Playful crossovers with Doraemon, old TV clips (like his “Dhurandhar” line from Qubool Hai being called ultimate manifestation), and AI-generated fan art showing him as the ultimate desi guardian.

Even a 12-year-old clip where Bedi introduces himself as “Dhurandhar” resurfaced, and fans lost it: “Manifestation level 1000!”

The beauty? The memes are rarely mean-spirited. Most celebrate Bedi’s expressive face, warm delivery, and the joy of seeing a veteran finally get his flowers.

Beyond the Laughs: A Career Renaissance

At an age when many actors fade into the background, Rakesh Bedi is enjoying what feels like a second (or third) innings. He has spoken about walking out of an IIT exam to chase theatre dreams, years of being typecast, and the satisfaction of this sudden spotlight.

He seems to be taking the meme storm in stride — posting about it, laughing along, and defending wholesome gestures when needed. In a world quick to cancel or criticize, his grace adds to the charm.

This moment also highlights something bigger: the power of strong supporting performances. Blockbusters need their heroes, but they shine brighter because of characters like Jameel Jamali who steal scenes and hearts without trying too hard.

    The Legacy of One Line

“Bachcha hai tu mera” has become 2026’s shorthand for affectionate bossiness, protective love, and desi dad energy. It crossed from cinema to advertising, from social media to real conversations. Grandparents are quoting it. College students are using it ironically. Brands are banking on it.

In the end, Rakesh Bedi didn’t chase virality — virality chased him. And in doing so, it reminded a new generation why veteran actors like him remain irreplaceable.
